EARL S. HOUSTON

Earl Samuel Houston, 93, died Friday at Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Herbert Samuel Houston and Olie Westbrooke Houston.
He was retired from Convenient Glass and Auto, and was a member of Dudley Christian Church.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II.
A service to celebrate Earl's life was held Monday at 2 p.m. by the graveside at Wayne Memorial Park, with Dr. Michael Coppock officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Price Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Bill Rackley of Dudley; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sudie B. Strickland of Corbett Hill and Elease and James Herring of Grantham; a sister-in-law, Janet Houston of Mechanicsville, Va.; four stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Brogden United Methodist Church, 2918 U.S. 117, Dudley, N.C., 28333.
