LESTER DURAN RAINS

Lester Duran Rains, 90, of 321 Cedar Road, Goldsboro, formerly of Morehead City, passed away Sunday, Jan.18, 2015.
He was born July 14, 1924, and was the son of the late Walter Bruce Rains Sr. and Odessa Godwin Rains.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Walter Bruce Rains Jr. and Boyce Rains; sisters, Mary Evelyn Rains Edwards, Katherine Rains McCabe and Judy Rains Pate; and a grandchild, John Alden Crain, III.
Mr. Rains was a past member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
He also served his country in the Army.
The funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Jim Harry officiating.
Burial will be in the Princeton Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lottie Massey Rains; one son, Robert Lester Rains and wife, Bree, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Gail Rains Best and husband, Dwight, of Holden Beach and Milly Rains Crain and husband, Jack, of Goldsboro; brother, James Morris Rains of Monroe; two sisters, Jean Rains Denning of Bentonville and Joyce Rains Knight of Florida; grandchildren, John Duran Zambelli and Lee Massey Zambelli and wife, Mandy, Andrew Alden Crain and wife, Erin, Charlotte Crain Stoppa and husband, Troy, Brylee Cynthia Rains, Robert Luke Rains and Lyla Cay Rains; great-grandchildren, Milly Kathryn Stoppa and Avery Kay Crain.
The family will be receiving friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Casey Funeral Home.
Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Wayne County Special Olympics or to a charity of one's choice.
