Virginia Thornton Lancaster, 85, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Virginia was born in Wayne County Sept. 11, 1929, to the late Jessie and Maggie Jones Thornton. She was married to the late Wayne Daniel Lancaster.
Virginia had worked for 43 years with Borden Manufacturing Co.
A service celebrating Virginia's life will be held Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tommy Murray officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Virginia is survived her daughter, Barbara Ann Aycock and husband, E.L., of Pikeville; his son, Carl Lancaster and wife, Darcy, of Goldsboro; his brother, Billy Thornton of Rosewood; three grandchildren, Katherine A. Rogerson and husband, Jim, Richard Aycock and wife, Christi, and Carly Lancaster; four great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Harold Wayne Lancaster.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
