CASSIE WOODARD HINSON

Cassie Woodard Hinson, 85, Goldsboro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Cassie was born in Johnston County Dec. 15, 1928, to the late Carvie and Ava Summerlin Woodard. She was married to the late James Floyd Hinson.
Cassie retired from O'Berry Center.
Cassie was a longtime member of Black Jack Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro. She was devoted to her church, served as choir director for 50 years and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.
Cassie had a sparkle in her eye and a heartwarming, generous spirit, always making everyone feel at home. Her faith, strength and courage during challenging times inspired all who knew her.
She loved life and the life she had with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. God had blessed her with all his love. She will live forever in all our hearts. We will see her one day in heaven; she is at rest now in the arms of God.
A service celebrating Cassie's life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jason Sherman, the Rev. Dennis Pollock and the Rev. Pete Radford officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Carlton and Renee Hinson.
Cassie is survived by her sons, James Carlton Hinson and wife, Renee, of Goldsboro and Milton Larry Hinson and wife, Lynda, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Carla Hinson Jones and husband, Dan, Julie Hinson Faucette and husband, Brandon, Allen Hinson and wife, Dana, Michael Hinson and wife, Paige, and Nicholas Hinson and wife, Lisa; and great-grandchildren, Bailey Jones, Carter Jones, Kylie Faucette, Asher Hinson, Gavin Hinson, Reed Stafford, Mackenzie Hinson, Briannah, Gracie and Kaeden Hinson.
Following the death of James' parents, Cassie and James brought his siblings, Rex, Earl and Gladys, into their home and raised them as their own children.
She is also survived by Gladys Worley of Princeton, and was preceded in death by Rex and Earl Hinson.
With loving gratitude, we thank the sixth-floor nursing staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital, the staff at the Brian Center, as well as the incredible guidance, wisdom and support of Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
