ALBERT LEE ARTHUR

Mr. Albert Lee Arthur, 93, Snow Hill, died Sunday evening, Oct. 5, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
A native of Greene County, he was born June 20, 1921, the son of Joseph and Lydia Turnage Arthur.
A veteran, he served as a medic in the United States Army during World War II, returning to Greene County following his tour of duty.
A farmer and talented welder by profession, Mr. Arthur was always willing to repair or invent whatever local farmers needed.
He was an active member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, with the Rev. Al Sullivan officiating. Committal services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Snow Hill Cemetery.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Arthur was preceded in death by his siblings, Doris Arthur, Ann Arthur Harris and Joe Harper Arthur.
His surviving family includes his wife of 67 years, Fannie May Arthur; daughter, Brenda Arthur Stroud and husband, Larry, of Snow Hill; son, Albert "Buster" Arthur and wife, Becky, of Snow Hill; his only grandchild, who was his pride and joy, Dana Stroud and wife, Tara, of Snow Hill; and his great-granddaughter, whom he affectionately referred to as his "sweet baby," Hayden Mackenzie Stroud.
The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Jerusalem United Methodist Church, c/o Theresa Thomas, 1798 U.S. 13 South, Snow Hill, N.C., 28580.
