J.D. SESSOMS

John Delton "J.D." Sessoms, 69, while riding in the woods, suddenly passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27. Death took him while he was preparing to do what he loved most, preparing for the upcoming deer hunting season.
J.D. loved the Lord, and is now rejoicing in His presence.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, especially for deer, and he enjoyed fishing.
He was a member of the Local Wildlife and Bear Creek Hunt Clubs.
J.D. had been a long time employee of Burlington Industries in Mount Olive, where he was a department supervisor.
He had served in the United States Army, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
J.D. is survived by his wife, Rose Thompson Sessoms; a son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Belinda Sessoms of Faison; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Phil and Kerry Jo Mozingo of Albertson; a stepdaughter, Kathy M. Thornhill of Faison; five grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle Sutton, Blair and Madison Mozingo and Ryan Thornhill; a great-grandson, Jonathan Cainen; a brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Glenna Thornton of Faison; another-sister-in-law, Janice Sessoms of Calypso; and a brother-in-law, James Thompson Jr. of Goldsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fleet Roosevelt Sessoms and Lizzie Thornton Sessoms, and a brother, William Rufus "Cootie" Sessoms.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church of which he was a member, with pastor Doug Bartlett and pastor Jeff Dail leading the service. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Seven Springs.
Visitation will be at the church beginning at 1:30 p.m.
