John Louis Daniel, 81, Goldsboro, peacefully departed this walk of life Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2014, at WakeMed in Raleigh.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Goldsboro.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. in the church.
Mr. Daniel was born in Michigan March 26, 1933, to the late Edward and Magdalene Ach Daniel.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Mr. Daniel was retired from the automotive field after 30 years of service with Bendix, and also retired from AP Parts of Goldsboro.
He is survived by four sons, Matthew Daniel of Goldsboro, Kevin Daniel of Michigan, David Daniel of Texas and Paul Daniel and wife, Tammy, of Wilson; three daughters, Mary LaVanway of Goldsboro, Teresa Baker of Texas and Barbara Halsell and husband, Rod, of Tennessee; a daughter-in-law, Terri Daniel of Texas; a brother, Bill Daniel of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Susan Smith and husband, Robert, of Michigan; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Marie Daniel; a son, Bart Daniel; and a brother, Jim Daniel.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
