KATHEL MAE MOODY JOHNSON
July 17, 1924-July 12, 2014
Kathel Mae Moody Johnson passed away peacefully with her devoted family at her side, embraced in the loving arms of her Lord July 12, 2014. Her final days were spent at Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh.
Mae was born in Trenton, N.C., to the late Major Dortch Moody and Beulah Mae Moody. Her childhood home was filled with love, music and hard work. This instilled in her a passion for music that lasted a lifetime.
She pursued a career in nursing, and was a practicing RN for Dr. Crumpler in Mount Olive, N.C.
Her life journey carried her to many places, but Dudley, N.C., was always home.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Joseph Paul Moody, Bertha Grey Moody, Dorothy Rae Jones, Nettie Lee Prince and Buddy Moody, and son, Charles A. Warrick.
Left here to cherish her memory are three loving sisters, Rochie Taylor of Mount Olive, Betty Moody of Dudley and Jimmie Davis of Goldsboro; children, Portia Tilton and husband, Marvin, of Clayton, Bart Johnson and wife, Nancy, of Williamsburg, Va., Tally Johnson and wife, Barbara, of Breman, OhioTammy Reed and husband, Bruce, of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Travis and Larry Tilton, Matthew Gonzalez, Vanessa Cash, Toby Warrick, Erin Jenks, Justin Johnson and Tyler Johnson; great-grandchildren, Mason and Marlee; and many loving nieces and nephews, especially Vicky Johnson and Dottie Rains, who adored their Aunt Mae.
The family will receive friends at Shumate-Faulk funeral home, U.S. 117 South in Dudley, N.C., from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 14.
Funeral services will be held at Emmaus Baptist Church on Emmaus Church Road in Dudley, N.C., Tuesday, July 15, at 11 a.m., with graveside services following.
Flowers are welcome, as well as donations made in Kathel Johnson's honor to Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, 27607.
