ROBERT B. LANCASTER SR.

Retired Army Capt. Robert B. Lancaster Sr., 77, Fremont, went to be with his Lord and savior Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2014, at 7 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home chapel, with visitation afterward. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Mr. Lancaster was born in Wayne County April 27, 1937, to the late Johnnie and Mildred Goff Lancaster.
He was retired as a captain with the United States Army, and was a member of Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Olivia Sasser Lancaster; sons, Don and wife, Terry, of Youngsville, N.C., John R. and wife, Letty, of Wrightsville Beach, N.C., and Robert B. Jr. and wife, Leigh, of Rosewood, N.C.; stepson, Ricky Williams and wife, Donia, of Benton, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; his brother, Arnold and wife, Cathy, of Oxford; and a sister, Gail Thorne and husband, Russ, of Charlotte.
The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine St. in Fremont.
