Chester Dale Melvin, 60, died Saturday afternoon at his residence.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Chester B. and Ann Rowe Melvin, and father of the late Nick Melvin.
Dale attended Bethel Church, where he and his wife served on the host team.
He was the parts and service manager at Dan Wise Chevrolet.
A service to celebrate Dale's life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Church, with pastor Steve Holder officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Family members will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times, will be at the home.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Melvin; a son, Chris Melvin; a sister, Sheila Heath; his father and mother-in-law, William "Junior" and Leona Davis; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Lou Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Bethel Church, 2308 N William St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
