DIXIE ELLIS SMITH

Dixie Ellis Smith, 85, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Dixie was born in Lenoir County, N.C., April 23, 1928, to the late Kirby Ellis and Elizabeth Faulkner Ellis. She was married to the late James Edward "Shine" Smith.
Dixie was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Friday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with pastor Barry Teague and the Rev. Reynolds Smith officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday following the service at the funeral home, and other times, at the home of Brinda and Elton Turnage, 2337 N. Beston Road, LaGrange.
Dixie is survived by daughters, Linda Braxton of Kinston and Brinda Turnage and husband, Elton, of Goldsboro; her son, Keith Smith of Goldsboro; and brother, Billy Carr Ellis of Snow Hill.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Pam Smith Williams and husband, Lee, Kim Braxton and husband, C.L., Allan Harper and wife, Renate, Dean Turnage and wife, Angie, Michael Smith, Brock Smith and Matthew Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her brothers, Vann Ellis and Kirby Ellis, and her sisters, Beatrice Wainwright, Lucy Stroud and Hannah Turnage.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
