GEORGIA MAE JACKSON

Georgia Mae Outlaw Jackson, 95, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Georgia was born in Wayne County June 5, 1918, the daughter of the late Alice Virginia Outlaw Malpass and Francis Malpass of the Indian Springs community. She was married for 51 years to the late Oscar Jackson.
Georgia delivered newspapers for the Goldsboro News-Argus, and retired after 42 years of service.
Along with her husband, they owned and operated Adamsville Grocery Store in the Adamsville community of Goldsboro.
She was a charter member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and was recognized for her 38 years of perfect attendance in Sunday school.
She was currently a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Georgia will be remembered by many for her love of life and its varied possibilities. She spent many of her healthy years helping people, often sacrificing her own needs so that others could live better.
Georgia was also dedicated to the Living Waters Gospel Group, and would travel with her grandson, Terry, as he sang with this group.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will always be loved by her children, and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
A service celebrating Georgia's life of 95 years will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Barry Teague and the Rev. Reynolds Smith officiating.
The family will greet family and friends Thursday following the service at the church, and other times, at her home.
Interment will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Park.
Georgia will be remembered in love by her daughters, Janice Myers and husband, Kenneth, of Goldsboro and Gloria Johnson and husband, Eric, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Shane Smith and wife, Stephanie, Lynne Fulghum and husband, George, Michelle Braxton and husband, John, and Sheri Russell and husband, Curt; stepgrandchildren, Pamela Lanier and Laura Denning; great-grandchildren, Brandon Smith and wife, Danielle, Chad Smith, Ashley McPhail and husband, Adam, Grant Braxton, Will Braxton, Oscar Russell, Georgia Lynne Fulghum and Waverly Russell; two great-great-grandchildren, Dalton Smith and Tristan Smith; a stepgreat-grandchild, Reid Bashaw; sister, Jane Carraway of Goldsboro; and sister-in-law, Christine Malpass of Goldsboro.
She is also loved by her former son-in-law, Jennings Smith; special friends and caregivers, David McCall, Laverne McCall and Gary Johnson; and special friends, Mary Kimes and Adell Hamilton.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Terry W. "Waylon" Smith, and her brother, Robert Malpass.
