SEVEN SPRINGS -- Jimmy Cullen Alphin Sr. passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 26, 2013, at his residence. He was 68 years old.
The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive Sunday, Dec. 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. J. Wesley Jarman and the Rev. Sam Jones will officiate. He will be buried at Pineview Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30.
Friends and family are also being received at the residence.
Mr. Alphin, a retired mechanic with Textilease Corp., worshipped at Park East (Adamsville) Church of God at Goldsboro.
He was the son of the late Millard and Nettie Mae Casey Alphin.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Jones Alphin, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Cindy Alphin and Michael and Marilyn Alphin all of Seven Springs; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Retha Price of Jacksonville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and the Rev. Emmett Jones and Linda and Selby Brown all of Goldsboro; a sister-in-law, Sharon Price of Portsmouth, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jamie Gentry and wife, Sherita, Lisa Wiggs, Eric Alphin and Jessica Mitchell, Adam Alphin and Brittany, Stephanie Smarsh and husband, Thomas, and Jessica Jones; 13 great-grandchildren; and Faye's brothers, Thomas Jones and wife, Marie, of PInk Hill and Charles Jones and Leroy Jones both of Seven Springs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lori Ann Alphin; a brother, Kenneth Price; and his wife's parents, L. T. and Barbara Whaley Jones.
