RICHARD "DICK" DEAN CORRELL

Richard "Dick" Dean Correll, 81, Garden Circle in Goldsboro, went to be with his Lord and savior Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Richard was the only son of the late Valmer "Bud" and Muriel Andrews Correll of Hoopeston, Ill.
After graduation from John Greer High School in 1950, he joined the United States Navy, and received his basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center. He was stationed in Norfolk, Va., and Lakehurst, N.J., and also served aboard the USS Wasp and the USS Roanoke.
He and his wife, Joyce, moved to Goldsboro in 1957, and he worked over the years as service manager at several boat dealerships.
In 1971, he opened his own boat motor repair business, Shade Tree Marine, where he worked until his health declined in 2007.
Richard was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church on N.C. 111 South. In times past, he had served as a trustee, deacon and Sunday school superintendent.
He had also been an active former member of New Hope Ruritan Club.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce.
He is also survived by three sons, Lewis and wife, Geri, Frank and wife, Rita, and Richard and wife, Christy; three sisters, Edna Albright of Joliet, Ill., Naomi Blackwell and husband, Harold, of Hoopeston, Ill., and Vonna Finley of Danville, Ill.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church on N.C. 111 South, with the Rev. Johnny Sasser officiating. A private family burial will follow.
