FREMONT -- Robert Dunn, 79, Beaufort Road, passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Mr. Dunn was born in Greene County Oct. 22, 1933, to the late Marrell and Winnie Brock Dunn.
He was a retired veteran with the United States Navy after 20 years of service to his country.
Mr. Dunn was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church in Fremont.
He is survived by a daughter, Betsy Gay and husband, William, of Fremont; two sisters, Ella Parrish of Wendell and Nancy Miller of Pink Hill; and two grandchildren, Robert Paul and Steven Jeffrey.
In addition to parents, Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his wife, Sheria Dunn.
The family is being served by Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home.
