Barbara H. Medford, age 68, of 144 Holloman Lane, died Wednesday morning at her home.
Born in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Bertha Rose Hill. She was the wife of the late Harvey Blair Medford Sr., and the mother of the late Harvey Blair Medford Jr.
A longtime member of Brogden Chapel, she was a seven-year breast cancer survivor.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Mr. Jason Bordeaux officiating.
At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Tonikia, 169 Holloman Lane, Dudley.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tonikia and Brian Johnson of Dudley; her best friend and special companion, Richard Willis of Dudley; her three granddaughters, Heather Medford, Haley and Hannah Johnson; her great-granddaughter, Brianna Elizabeth Williams; step-son, Richard Willis Jr. of Atlantic Beach; and step-daughter, Lisa May Willis of Morehead City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Judes Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
