EUREKA -- Luby Keith Edmundson, 760 Stan-Ray Road, died Friday at Wilson Medical Center.
The funeral service is 3 p.m. today at Antioch Free Will Baptist Church, 1407 Antioch Road. There will be a time of sharing with the family in the fellowship hall from 2 p.m. until the service time. Interment will follow with fireman honors at Smith-Edmundson Cemetery, 1802 Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville. The Rev. Greg Stancil and the Rev. Sherman Dilley will officiate.
Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Joyce Strickland Edmundson; daughter, Beth Arrington (Howard) of Durham; a stepson, Leland Douglas Pittman Jr. of Goldsboro; sisters, Eleanor E. Gooding (Bobby) of Pikeville and Laurie E. Andrews (Thomas) of Creedmoor; and sister-in-law, Anna Edmundson of Pikeville.
Mr. Edmundson, a native of Wayne County, was preceded in death by his parents, Atha Margaret Ginn Edmundson and Luby Erastius Edmundson; his siblings, George Edmundson and John Walter Edmundson; and sister-in-law, Marceile Edmundson.
He was a member of Antioch Free Will Baptist Church, where he had sung in the choir for a number of years. He was a volunteer firefighter with Antioch Fire Department, where he had served as lieutenant, on the board for a number of years and assisted Faro Fire Department in the daytime. Mr. Edmundson was retired from Sylvania Co. in Smithfield.
The family has suggested that memorials be made to Antioch Free Will Baptist Church, c/o Lisa Ginn, 400 Birch Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534 or the American Cancer Society, 930 Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C.
