Marvin Earl Shackleford Sr., 67, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at his home. He was born in Greene County on July 1, 1945 to the late Lester and Geneva (Murphy) Shackleford, Sr. On Oct. 18, 1966 he married his high school sweetheart, Sheila Moye. Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family, socializing and watching movies.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sheila Moye Shackleford and four children, two daughters, Levonde Shackleford Jones of Raleigh, and Chandra Ray Shackleford of Charlotte, and two sons, Marvin Earl Shackleford Jr. and his wife, Angela of Durham, and Corie Devon Shackleford and his wife, Trishonda of Charlotte; one grandson, Xavier Pearlie Denzel Jones, and one granddaughter, Sadairrea Moye Shackleford; a brother, Leonard Leroy Shackleford Sr. of Greenville, N.C.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Arrangements are being handled by J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremation in Goldsboro. The funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013, beginning at 2 p.m. at Moye's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Farmville. The burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
