HAZEL HERRING SUTTON

NEWTON GROVE -- Hazel Herring Sutton, 92, died Friday, March 29, 2013.
The funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at Goshen United Methodist Church, with Rev. Rochele Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the church.
A native of Wayne County, she was born on April 1, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Edward L. and Fannie McCullen Herring.
She was a graduate of Mount Olive High School and later from Mount Olive College with a business degree. For many years, she was secretary and bookkeeper for Sutton Supply, Inc. and Sutton Insurance Company. While her health permitted, she was an active member of Goshen United Methodist Church as well as other community organizations.
She leaves cherished memories to her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Parks C. Fields of Greensboro; grandchildren, Susan Fields Russell and husband, Craig, of Summerfield; Robert Edward Fields and wife, Vanessa, of Greensboro; great-grandchildren, Brandon Parker Russell, Jessica Grace Russell and Samantha MacKenzie Fields; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Gilbert Sutton; three sisters, Eudell Herring Fields, Mary Herring Price and Ruth Herring Cox; and her brother, Edward Ray Herring.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goshen United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 51, Newton Grove, N.C. 28366.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Rolling Ridge Retirement Center for the loving care given to their mother over the past nine and a half years.
