Daniel Norwood Hollingsworth, 73, passed away Friday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Lonnie Fife and Callie Thelma Thornton Hollingsworth.
He was retired from the United States Army.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
He is survived by a daughter, Lizzette Hollingsworth-Gunkel of Novi, Mich.; three sisters, Minva Hollingsworth of Goldsboro, Elsie H. Herring of Mount Olive and Magdalene Davis of Warrenton, Va.; and two grandchildren, Channelle Hollingsworth, 21, and Vincent Gunkel, 14.
