PHILLIP LANCASTER
Jan. 1, 1938-Nov. 17, 2012
Lloyd Phillip Lancaster, 74, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed peacefully while surrounded by his family into that far better life with his Lord and savior and with those beloved family who went on before. His courage during this fight was typical of his strength of character, reflecting his loyalty and dedication to and deep love for his family and his zest and love of life.
The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service remembering Phillip at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Greg Stancill and the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Eureka Cemetery.
Phillip was born in Wayne County on Jan. 1, 1938, to the late Lloyd Ashley Lancaster and Lendora Edmundson Lancaster. He proudly served his country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne. Phillip was a man who loved to work the land and was a farmer in the Pikeville community. He always enjoyed preparing and helping his wife in the garden, but they received the most pleasure from sharing God's bounty with family and friends. Although farming was of great interest to Phillip, he also enjoyed going to the coast, fishing and just riding around looking at the crops. As a farmer, Phillip will forevermore be remembered in his calling; because those who labor in the earth are the chosen people of God.
Phillip was a member of Antioch Original Free Will Baptist Church, and in his later years received a great blessing from hearing and reading God's word. Phillip was loved by all who knew him. He loved life and the life he had with his wife, children and grandchildren. God has blessed him with all His love. He will live forever in all our hearts. We will see him one day in Heaven; he is at rest now, in the arms of God.
Phillip is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruby Lamm Lancaster; daughters, Monica Lancaster Rochelle and husband, Frank, of Jacksonville and Phyllis Lancaster Daughtry and husband, Bo, of Pikeville; and his beloved grandchildren, Rachel Daughtry, Ashton Rochelle, Hannah Daughtry and Katie Rochelle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gail Lancaster Fleming.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be given to Antioch Original Free Will Baptist Church, 1407 Antioch Road, Pikeville, NC 27863.
