GREENVILLE -- The Rev. Dr. Cedric Dixon Pierce Jr., 73, went home to be with Jesus, his precious Lord and savior Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Black Jack Original Free Will Baptist Church. A graveside committal service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro.
Dr. Pierce, a Wayne County native, lived his life very involved in the ministry for which he was called by God. He served as a pastor, a preacher and a professor of theology at Carolina Bible Institute and Seminary for 53 years.
Dr. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents, Cedric and Marguerite Pierce.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Gibson Pierce; sons, Douglas S. Pierce Sr. and wife, Wanda, of Ayden and Paul A. Pierce and wife, Lynn, of Greenville; grandchildren, Grace, Stephen, Ashton, Adam and Seth Pierce; brother, Albert F. Pierce of Pikeville; and sister, Cheryl P. Griffin of Dudley.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, and at other times will be at his home.
