LOSSIE MAE EDWARDS

DUDLEY -- Lossie Mae Edwards, 78, died Wednesday at her residence in Dudley.
She was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Wilson County to the late Joe and Carrie Edwards.
She received her education, and was raised in, Statonsburg.
Lossie was employed by the state of North Carolina for more than 30 years, and retired in 1989.
She attended St. Luke Church of Christ in Goldsboro, and in later years attended Vision of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Olive.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 59 years, James Wesley Edwards of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Edwards Rich of the home and Carrie Ann (Timothy) Edwards-Martin of Raleigh; sister, Estella Shepherd of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, Myisha Brown and Ashley Rich both of Goldsboro, Wesley Martin of Charlotte, Erin Martin of Raleigh and Zoe Brown of Dudley; a great-granddaughter, Victorious Amari Brown (her father, Chester Brown Jr.) of Rocky Mount; two aunts, Adabelle Mitchell and Ethelene Rodgers both of Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The viewing will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m.
The funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Vision of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Olive. The Rev. Alexander B. Herring of Raleigh will officiate. Entombment will be in Wayne Memorial Park South.
The family will receive friends at 301 Lorease Drive, where it will assemble one hour prior to the service Saturday.
The Edwards family is in the hallmark of care at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
