KENANSVILLE -- Mrs. Ernesteen Jones Summerlin, 76, Kenansville, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center after an accident and months of illness.
Ernesteen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Oliver Summerlin, and her parents, Wilbert Allen Jones and Annie Mae Brock Jones of Kenansville.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Surviving her are her daughter, Lu Anne Summerlin Swinson and husband, Todd, of Kenansville; sons, Michael Troy Summerlin of Raleigh and friend, Robert T. Dodge, and Clayton Kent Summerlin and his wife, Carol, of Six Mile, S.C.; sisters, Dallace Marie Jones Grady and husband, Ernest, of Kenansville and Gloria Denise Jones Brown and husband, Gene, of Magnolia; brother, Randall Allen Jones Sr. and wife, Pat, of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Steven Matthew Levai and friend, Erica Kay Thigpen, Alexis Briana Swinson, Tyler Zachary Summerlin and Morgan Nicole Summerlin; sisters and brothers in-law, Eva Nan Summerlin, Henry Paul Summerlin and David Louis Summerlin all of Mount Olive and Gaynelle Puckett Summerlin of Jacksonville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Serenity Funeral Home in Beulaville, and otherwise at the home at 928 N. N.C. 11 and N.C. 903, Kenansville.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the funeral home chapel, officiated by the Rev. Deborah H Sutton, the Rev. Tuck Taylor-Loveland and the Rev. Lynn Buzzard, with burial following at Devotional Gardens, Warsaw.
