JOSEPH ALLAN WEEKS

MOUNT OLIVE -- Joseph Allan "Joey" Weeks, 23, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Aug. 8, 2012.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with his uncle, Bishop Jim Whitfield, officiating.

Joey was born in Duplin County on May 5, 1989, and served in the United States Army in the Infantry Brigade at Fort Lewis, Washington. He served one year of active duty in Iraq. After his discharge in April of 2012, Joey made his home in New Market, Tenn., where he was employed as a plumber.

Joey is survived by his parents, Rex Allen and Phyllis Whitfield Lewis; his sister and brother-in-law, Kymmy and James Shadle Jr.; nieces, Savannah, Isabelle, and Emma; his wife, Jessica Parker Weeks; aunts and uncles, Jerry and Angela Whitfield Britt, Ellis Ray and Barbara Lewis, and Margaret Lee Lewis; special cousins, John and James Britt, Rodney Lewis, Dorinda L. Dew, C.J. Dew, and Lewis Dew; his "MaMa," Hetty M. Whitfield; and grandmother, Lynn M. Weeks.

He is also survived by his biological father, Eddie Weeks; biological mother and stepfather, Lynn and Jerry Rhea; aunt, Susan W. Graham, and children, Christopher, William, and Justin; half-sister, Alexandra Kolby; half-brother, Kyle Kolby; and nephew, Damon Collins, along with many great-aunts and uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.

Joey was preceded in death by his grandparents, his "PaPa," James G. "J.G." Whitfield, Woodrow "Buck" and Isabelle Lewis, and Glen Weeks, and great-grandparents, Harvey and Ruth Murphy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday following the service, and at other times at 591 Country Club Road, Mount Olive, NC.
