JOHNNIE L. PETERSON

Evangelist Johnnie L. Peterson, daughter of the late Furman Edwards Sr. and Ermie Martino, was born July 25, 1953, in Ridgeville, S.C. Saturday morning, July 7, 2012, God saw fit to pick one of his precious flowers from his garden.
She attended Kennedy High School in Harleyville, S.C.
She worked as a substitute teacher for Washington, D.C., Public School System and Wayne County Public Schools.
She was a loving and devoted mother to her children.
Evangelist Johnnie Peterson was a member of Soldiers for Christ Outreach Ministry in Goldsboro, where she was a preacher and a devoted prayer warrior, who loved to praise the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Marvin Peterson; a grandson, Tony Edwards Jr.; and a son-in-law, Kevin S. Mills.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories to her children, Evelyn Mills, Tony (Cindy) Edwards and Christina Peterson; 11 grandchildren, Tyler, Kimberly, Jasmine, Desean, Dominic, Darian, Delaney, Rasheed, Syhieem, Ty'onna and Zephaniah; a great-grandchild, Ariel D. Edwards; two brothers, Furman Edwards Jr. and Bruce Leroy Edwards; a sister, Barbara Ann Edwards; two aunts, Hattie Martino Doctor and Claudella Martina; three special godchildren, Ebony, Shannon and Brittney; a special sister-in-law, Francie L. Waters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, 401 N. William St., Goldsboro.
A celebration of life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Soldiers of Christ Outreach Ministry, 1818 S. Slocumb St. Following the services in the sanctuary, evangelist Peterson's delicate temple, along with her adored family, will be escorted by E.M. Matthews' angelic white fleet to Elmwood Cemetery for interment rites.
Evangelist Peterson and the Peterson family are in the hallmark of care at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
