JANE BLACKWELL THOMPSON

MARION, S.C. -- Jane Blackwell Thompson of Marion, died May 14, 2012.

Daughter of John Hamlin and Isabell Williams, she had been a lifelong resident of Marion.

Jane married William Foxworth Thompson of Marion, Oct. 22, 1949. From this union five children were born, William Foxworth Thompson Jr. (Gale Belser) of Charleston, S.C., Jane Iredell Thompson (Jiri F.V. Jilich) of Charleston, S.C., John Blackwell Thompson (Rebecca Bowden) of Goldsboro and Robert Blackwell Thompson (Rhonda Skipper) of Marion, S.C.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Earl McCrary Thompson.

Jane is survived by 10 grandchildren.

Jane was an active member of the Marion community. She taught fifth grade at Marion Grammar School, led Girl Scout Troop 443, was a lifelong member of Acacia Garden Cub and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at First United Methodist Church in Marion. Graveside services will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Richardson Funeral Home.

Family and friends are invited to be received at the home Tuesday, March 15, from 6 to 8 p.m.
