MARVIN GRAY

Marvin Gray, 82, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012.
Marvin was born June 18, 1929, in Wayne County to the late C.W. and Virginia Hines Gray.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Eason Gray.
Marvin retired from the North Carolina Forest Service as assistant county ranger following 52 years of service. He explained and educated numerous Wayne County school students dressed as Smokey Bear.
Marvin worked closely and enjoyed a great relationship with all Wayne County fire departments. He was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the state of North Carolina in 2001.
Marvin was an avid outdoors man, who enjoyed bird hunting, fishing and working with saddlebred horses.
A service of remembrance will be held Friday, April 27, 2012, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Fowler and the Rev. Drew Hill officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
Marvin is survived by a daughter, Anne Mozingo and husband, Carl, of LaGrange; two sisters, Lucille Lancaster and husband, Ed, of LaGrange and Carrie Grant and husband, Robert, of Snow Hill; two grandchildren, Amanda Mozingo Johnson and husband, Joe, of Raleigh and Jonathan Carl Mozingo and wife, Shannon, of Goldsboro; four great-grandchildren, Samantha Mozingo, Hartley Mozingo, Kenley Mozingo and Gray Johnson; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday following the service of remembrance, and at other times will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mozingo, 881 S. Beston Road, LaGrange, N.C., 28551.
