GERALDINE GAVIN DORTCH

Geraldine Gavin Dortch, 86, 1105 S. Slocumb St., passed Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A home-going celebration will be held Monday, April 23, 2012, at noon at St. James A.M.E Zion Church. The Rev. D.B. Cannon will be officiating. She will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 28, 1925, to the late William and Sarah Gavin in Wayne County.
She was the widow of Lee Thomas Dortch, and was a lifelong member of St. James A.M.E Zion Church. Mrs. Dortch was a retired educator with the Goldsboro City School System, giving 39 years of dedicated and faithful service.
She leaves precious memories with a daughter, Renita Dortch; a granddaughter, Erika; a great-granddaughter, Kamaya; a great-grandson, Charles Nicholas; three sisters; two brothers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a viewing held today from 2 to 6 p.m. in J.B. Rhodes, Jr. Memorial Chapel.
