DAVID GEORGE REES

David Rees, 77, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 20, 2012.
Dave was the son of George Wharton Rees and Dorothy Johnson Rees.
He was born and raised in Haverford, Pa.
He played clarinet for the high school band and with the United States Army 7th Infantry Division Band in Korea.
Dave later earned a mechanical engineering degree from Drexel University.
He worked most of his career as a mechanical engineer for Fischer and Porter Co. and Cooper Industries.
Dave's passions included sports cars and model aviation, where he was an active member of the American Model Association and the Flying Aces Corps.
He was involved in theater with the Gilbert and Sullivan Players and the Dutch Country Playhouse.
He loved Renaissance and Baroque music, and passionately played the recorder and built his own harpsichord.
He and wife, Marie, started several musical ensembles, including the Renaissance Singers and Players and The Major Third, which performed at many events.
Dave was a deacon at Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Goldsboro.
Dave is survived by his dedicated wife of 51 years, Marie; his brother, Thomas Rees and wife, Louise, of Philadelphia, Pa.; daughter Carol and husband Michael Roderick McCray of Youngsville; two sons, Daniel of Zebulon and Donald and wife, Joanne, of Durham; and four grandchildren, Heather, Joseph, Megan and Danielle.
A memorial service will be held at Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Goldsboro at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012. Dr. Bob Fulkerson will officiate the service.
