Edna Myrick Small died Friday.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Hwy. 70 West. The family will receive family and friends following the service.
Surviving are her sons, Dr. James W. Small Jr. (Carolyn) of Maitland, Fla. and Dr. Gary W. Small (Michelle) of Iowa City, Iowa; a grandson, Brian W. Small (Dana) of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters, Alexa McQuistan Small, Audrey McQuistan Small; great-grandsons, Tanner James Small and Peyton Louis Small; brothers, Maynard Myrick of Macon, Fredrick F. Myrick of Roanoke Rapids; and a sister, Eula M. Smith of Louisburg.
A native of Warren County, she was born to the late Della Olympia Wray Myrick and James Walter Myrick. She was married to the late James W. "Jim" Small. She has also been preceded in death by her siblings, Walter J. Myrick, Perry L. Myrick, Gratia M. Topping and Violet M. Mitchell.
Mrs. Small was a registered nurse who worked for Bell Helicopter while residing in Texas. As her husband was transferred to military bases throughout his career in the U.S. Air Force, she worked as a nurse at hospitals across the country. After her retirement, she dedicated her life to assisting elders by providing them with transportation and companionship to their appointments and also accomplishing local errands for them to the supermarket and pharmacy. She was an active and longtime member of the Discover Sunday School Class.
