Benjamin Alexander Casey, 81, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, surrounded by his family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Ben was born in Wayne County Sept. 9, 1930, to the late Benjamin Casey and Elizabeth Herring Casey.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Adamsville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Todd Wiggins and the Rev. Pat Kilby officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.
Ben is survived by his wife, Kay E. Casey; his daughters, Barbara C. Herrin of Summerville, S.C., and Beverly C. Whiteside of Florida; his daughter-in-law, Wendy Casey; his grandchildren, Keith Herrin, Kimberly Morales, Megan Casey, Benjamin Casey, Stephen Casey, Dylan Casey and Aaron Casey; and six great-grandchildren.
Benjamin is also survived by a sister, Sarah C. McCormick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Stephen Casey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center at 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Adamsville Baptist Church at 1302 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Adamsville Baptist Church, and other times at the home.
