DOROTHY B. LEE
June 10, 1936-Dec. 19, 2011
Dorothy B. Lee, affectionately known as "Dot" to family and friends, slipped away with one of God's angels Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, after a brief illness.
Dot was born June 10, 1936, the oldest of 13 children, to Leslie and Sylvia Warren in Wayne County.
She attended and graduated from Carver High School in Mount Olive.
Dorothy and Joseph Grandy met in Goldsboro, and were united in holy matrimony. To this union six children were born. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She enjoyed cooking, crossword and word search puzzles and watching her shows on the television.
The loves of her life were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally and made great sacrifices for.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by six children, Emma Lee, Josephine, Joe Earl, Arlene, Glenn and Roland; three sisters, Mildred, Verna and Ann; three brothers, Earl, Roland and Johnny; two daughters-in-law, Ina and Patricia; a son-in-law, Abdul-Shariff; two half-sisters, Linda and Valeria; a half-brother, Jose; 18 grandchildren, Tanya, Adrian, Lonnie, Vashon, Demarko, JoeDore, Sherina, Ra'Tamile, Anthony Lavar, Victor, Dominique, Sin-Q, Brittany, Ramel, Tanisha, Shane, Marcus and Jordan; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
A service of remembrance will be held Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Salvation Deliverance and Healing Ministries, 211 W. Pine St., Goldsboro.
Following the services in the sanctuary, Ms. Lee's delicate temple, along with her adored family, will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park South for interment rites.
Ms. Lee's earthen vessel is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, where the Lee, Grandy and connected families are receiving prestigious service.
