John Jasper Brooks, 79, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends today, Oct. 23, 2011, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed with a funeral service in the chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Wellman officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.
John was born in Ohio on Sept. 12, 1932, to the late Donnie Brooks and Effie Lilly Brooks. He was the owner and operator of Rohr Tire. John served his country in the United States Air Force for 25 years retiring as a major. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and was one of the founders of the Civil Air Patrol at the Goldsboro Municipal Airport.
John is survived by his wife, Eugenia Rohr Brooks; his son, Jerry Brooks and Deborah Brown of Goldsboro; his daughters, Vikki Blalock and Jerry of Talladega, and Jenny Jaber of Raleigh; his brother, Charles T. Brooks of Georgia; his sisters, Laura Beech of Kentucky and Lilly Herring of S.C.; his 14 grandchildren; and great-grandchild, Kaelyn Brooks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Charles Brooks.
