James Martin Richter Sr., 69, passed away on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Eugene Carpenter officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service at the church.
Mr. Richter was born in Norfolk, Va., on July 20, 1942, to the late Martin B. Richter and Wilma Hagen Richter. He retired as a superintendent with T.A. Loving Company. Mr. Richter was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
Mr. Richter is survived by his wife, Linda Tyndall Richter; his children, Kimberly R. Smith and husband, Henry, of Goldsboro and James Martin Richter Jr. and wife, Melissa, of Greenville; his grandchildren, Claiborne Smith Jr., Drex Richter, Caroline Smith and Hagen Richter; his brothers, Mike Richter, Charles Richter and Robert Richter; and his sisters, Evelyn Paul, Carol Bass, Marian Mears and Jacqueline Bunn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valle Crucis Community Park, for its continued support, at P.O. Box 581, Valle Crucis, NC 28691.
