Douglas Michael Baker, 77, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Crank officiating. Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hills Of Neuse Memory Gardens, Smithfield.
A native of Pitt County, he was the son of the late Joe Baker and Ester Singleton Upchurch. Mr. Baker attended Victory Free Will Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and served his country in the United States Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Star Baker; doggie, Missy; daughter, Crystal Blanton and husband, Scott, of Cary; sons; Wally "Jay" Acres and wife, Milissa, of Willow Springs and Michael Douglas Baker and wife, Shannon, of Wilmington; daughters, Shellie Phaneuf and husband, Shawn, Julie Canterberry, Cathy Hurdle and husband, Chip, and Linda Estrada; eight grandchildren.
Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
