JAMES A. KING

James A. "Jim" King, 79, died early Sunday morning at his home. Born in Underhill, VT, he was the son of the late Ralph G. King and Glenna Greenier King and father of the late Mark King. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years. He was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church and in 2010, was the honorary chairman for the Wayne County Relay for Life.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Hobbs and Rev. Dr. Jerry A. Jackson officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Ann Mickle King; a son, Roger A. King of Benson; a daughter, Kim Hoff of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Justin King of Raleigh, Katie Hoff and Will Hoff, both of Goldsboro; and seven brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to the Providence Relay For Life Team #45, C/O Ms. Nancy Westfall, 202 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
Family members will greet friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
