ED HOLLOWELL

PIKEVILLE -- Edward Errol Hollowell, 71, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Ed was born in Wayne County May 4, 1940, to the late Seth B. Hollowell and Mae Hare Hollowell.
He always had a great passion for driving a tanker truck, and for more than 50 years he lived that dream.
Ed, also known by his CB handle "Flat-top," will be remembered for having everything perfect on his tanker.
He had worked in the family business, Seth B. Hollowell Oil Co. before he began his career as a truck driver for his own business, Hollowell Transportation.
Ed later worked for E.J. Pope and Sons, and before his retirement, he had worked for Country Mart.
Ed was not a man of many words, but he will be remembered for his great love of God, family and friends.
A service to celebrate Ed's life will be held at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, of which he was a member, Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dann Patrick officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Ed is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Howell Hollowell; his son, Greg Hollowell and wife, Varina, of Old Fort; his daughter, Marlena Edwards and husband, Michael, of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Jolene, Byron, and Wesley Hollowell and Seth and Leah Edwards; his sister, Sylvia H. Taylor of Goldsboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at his home.
