LEE B. SMITH
Lee Barbara Smith, 72, of 311 S. Alabama Ave, Goldsboro, died Wednesday, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A homecoming celebration will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. James AME Zion Church, 206 S. George St. Dr. Dwight B. Cannon, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery on Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Viewing will take place today from 2 to 7 pm. at the Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St.
Aside from graduating 1957 (in the best class that came out of Dillard High School), she graduated from Fayetteville State University, and taught faithfully and dutifully in the Wayne County Schools for 30-plus years. She was a caring servant of God who truly remained on the battlefield at St. James AME Zion Church until her death.
She leaves to cherish fond memories of a devoted Christian life a sister, Juanita Cox Faison of Goldsboro; two nieces, Sandra Cox Lockhart of Garland, Texas, and Michelle Cox Hobbs of Goldsboro; a good and trusted friend, Vera Braswell Jett of Charlotte; a loving church family, other nieces, and nephews, relatives, classmates and friends.
Hamilton Funeral Chapel is respectfully serving the Smith family.
