SNOW HILL -- Mr. Patrick "Pat" Dennis Casey, 69, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 12, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A native of Monticello, Ill., Pat was born April 25, 1942, the son of Arthur James and Nellie Record Casey.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, it was his military service that led Pat to eastern North Carolina, where he met his wife, reared his children and lived until his death.
Pat retired from Barrus Construction Co. and the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, a mason in Radiance Lodge No. 132, a member of American Legion Shirley Hill Post No. 94 and the Snow Hill VFW.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Lee and the Rev. Sherman Guthrie officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Mewborn Family Cemetery with Masonic Rites and VFW Honors.
In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike Casey, Ross Casey and Jim Casey, and a granddaughter, Erin Casey Crowell.
His surviving family includes his wife, Linda Faye Creech Casey; daughters, Denise Casey Crowell and husband, Bill, of Cary, and Pam Casey Rouse and husband, John, of Kinston; sisters, Lois Kalk of Illinois and Ann Smith of Florida; a brother, Jerry Casey of Illinois; mother-in-law, Hester P. Creech of Snow Hill; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Creech of Snow Hill; and his grandchildren, Will Rouse and Patrick Crowell.
The family will receive friends Friday at 1 p.m. prior to the service, and other times at the Creech home, 941 Creech Road, Snow Hill.
