RAY L. FERREE
July 16, 1927-June 8, 2011
Retired Air Force Staff Sgt. Raymond "Ray" L. Ferree, 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Ray was born in Lykens, Pa., July 16, 1927, to the late Clarence Ferree and Nellie Shomper Ferree.
He was a founding member of Love Memorial Baptist Church.
Ray served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Vietnam War, and retired with 20 years of distinguished service. While serving, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
Ray enjoyed traveling many places, as well as hunting and fishing.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Bobby Heath officiating.
Ray enjoyed a daughter-like relationship with Nancy Walker and husband, Steve, and their children, Austin and Ashton, of Pikeville and Gwen Bartlett and husband, Lemuel, of Goldsboro.
He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Magaro and husband, Ray, Ruth Detweiler and husband, Clarence, and Jane Begani, and his brothers, Paul Ferree and wife, Marie, and Dean Ferree and wife, Shirley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Jones Ferree, and his brothers, Clarence Ferree and Robert Ferree.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Love Memorial Baptist Church at 192 Woodland Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
