Janice Velma Phillips Twiggs, 86, passed away on Friday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 6, 2011, in the narthex of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church from 6 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary with the Rev. Ronnie Heath and Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Janice was born in Wake County on Sept. 28, 1924, to the late Alphonso and Cora Bell Pilkington Phillips. She was married for 65 years to the late Aaron Allen Twiggs. Janice was an active member of the Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church. Along with her husband, she was a member of the Woodmen of the World and for many years was involved with the Lodge Auxiliary. Janice always wanted the best for her family and will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed visiting with her church family and friends and could often be found helping others in her community.
Janice is survived by her son, Jim L. Twiggs and wife, Dianne, of Goldsboro; her granddaughters, Lynne T. Rose and husband, Bill, of Goldsboro and Jennifer Loftin and husband, Bryan, of Martinsville, Va.; and her great-grandchildren, Bill Rose Jr. and wife, Whitney, Summer Rose, Paul Rose, Elizabeth Loftin, Sarah Loftin, Robert Loftin, and Daniel Loftin. She is also survived by her brothers, Bernice Phillips and wife, Louise, of Goldsboro and Ed Phillips and wife, Faye, of Goldsboro; and her sisters-in-law, Marie Phillips of Goldsboro and Lola Holloman of Selma.
