Thursday, March 10, 2011, Frances Leigh Jones Creech, 97, died.
An inspirational devotional service will be held Friday, March 11, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Creech was born in Robeson County Sept. 15, 1913, to the late Charles "Charlie" Edward Jones Sr. and Katye Miller Byrd Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur L. Creech Sr.; son, Wilbur L. Creech Jr.; and grandson, Richard B. Allen.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Goldsboro Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She was a past councilor and teacher at Goldsboro Christian School, and a substitute teacher for the city schools. Mrs. Creech also taught bible at Wayne Community College for continuing education and Discovery Art for the Art Center, and was a tutor at Mount Zion Christian Academy.
She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Mrs. Creech is survived by a son, Jimmy Creech and wife, Chris Weedy, of Raleigh; two daughters, Frances Jones Creech Allen and husband, A.G. "Bert," of Goldsboro and Alice Byrd Creech Wilson and husband, B.A. "Braxton," of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Lane Creech of Garner; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and all others she called her family in Christ.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011, at noon at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Spring Hope, N.C., at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Mount Zion Christian Academy, Smart Choices for Youth Inc., P.O. Box 1202, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533, or the Community Crisis Center.
Deepest appreciation is extended to the entire staff and employees for the care given during her stay at the Brian Center.
