RODNEY CHARLES FITZGERALD

KNIGHTDALE -- Rodney Charles Fitzgerald, 47, passed away March 6, 2011, after many years of battling heart problems.
Born Sept. 22, 1963, in Goldsboro, N.C., he was the son of the late Wilbert Fitzgerald Jr. and Lula B. Fitzgerald Little and husband, Billy Little, of Kenly, N.C., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Berry and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Fitzgerald Sr.
He graduated from Barton College, and had completed continuing courses in computer science at North Carolina State University.
Rodney was an IT systems administrator most recently with Coty Inc. in Sanford. He had previously worked with the National Institute of Health, STOCK Building Supply and Misys Healthcare.
He was an active member of Knightdale United Methodist Church, especially within the prison ministry KAIROS.
He was a North Carolina State sports fan, including football and basketball, and he enjoyed cars, genealogy, history and the family cottage in Janeiro, N.C. Rodney truly loved being with his family and his faithful companion "Indigo."
He is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Kathy Workman Fitzgerald, and his mother and stepfather. His memory will also be treasured by his aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and half-brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, March 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church, 80 Beulahtown Road in Kenly, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at the church Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 2 p.m., with interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton.
