RUBY C. AMERSON

PIKEVILLE -- Ruby C. Amerson, 76, passed away Wednesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. Burial will follow at Pikeville Cemetery.
Mrs. Amerson was born in Pitt County to the late Harvey Robinson and Estelle Spikes Cole.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Howell of Pikeville; a brother, Ray Cole and wife, Pat, of Wendell; three sisters, Christine Davis and husband, Calvin, of Goldsboro, Barbara Ann Girard and husband, Barry, of Greenville and Betty Barnes of Wendell; five grandchildren, Sherri Brooks (Darin), Erica Tillman (Seth), Ricky Hainey Jr. (Carrie), Cassandra Bass and Tony Lancaster; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Amerson was preceded in death by two daughters, Cathy Wainwright and Diane Lancaster.
The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
