HILDA BASS RADFORD

GOLDSBORO -- Hilda Bass Radford, 92, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family.

Hilda was born in Sampson County June 11, 1918, to the late Marion Butler Bass and Lula Peele Bass. She was married to the late William Earl Radford.

Hilda was a charter member of Rosewood First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women's Society and taught Sunday school for more than 65 years.

An avid painter, Hilda enjoyed being active in the Senior Olympics, and for many years participated as Mrs. Clause at the Herman Park Center.

She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Hilda is survived by her daughters, Betty Hollowell of Goldsboro and Barbara Carol Knight of the home; her son, Glenwood Earl Radford of the home; her brother, Donald Bass of Youngsville; her six grandchildren, Michael Hollowell, Carla Massengill, Amy Hartley, Christopher Radford, Nolan Knight and Lisa Craig; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 N.C. 581 south, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at her home, 1476-B Old Smithfield Road, Goldsboro.
