LAVERLE GRANTHAM BATTON

GOLDSBORO -- Laverle Grantham Batton, 76, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Laverle was born in Wayne County Oct. 7, 1933, to the late Luby Franklin Grantham and Esther Mae Rose Grantham. She was married to the late Charles Percy Batton.
Laverle was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, and was a member of the Ambassador Sunday school class.
She was a retired registered nurse at Cherry Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2010, at 7 p.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Barry Williamson officiating. The interment will be Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Town of Bunn Cemetery.
Laverle is survived by her daughter, Teresa F. Stanley of Goldsboro; her stepdaughter, Jeannette Batton of Riverside, Calif.; her grandson, Charles R. Stanley of Goldsboro; her brothers, Hiram Grantham and wife, Billie, of Goldsboro and Jimmy Grantham of Goldsboro; and her sisters, Betsy G. Jones of Mount Olive and Edna Earl Jones and husband, John M., of Goldsboro.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Lou Grantham.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
