Harry "Hap" Linwood Thurlow Jr., 78, of 201 New Hope Rd. passed away Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his many loved ones.
A service to celebrate the life of Hap will be noon Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Webster James will officiate with full military honors to follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
A native of Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late Harry L. Thurlow Sr. and Sylvia Casey Thurlow. He lived in Goldsboro for over 50 years.
Hap served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retired as Master Sergeant in 1971. He owned and operated "Hap's Shop," a foreign car repair and service center in his home for over 20 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Freeman Thurlow of 54 years; his daughters, Sylvia Pacer of Charlotte and Donna Douglas and husband, David, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Jason and Tyler Ham, Ashley and Philip Pacer, and Drew Douglas. He is also survived by his brothers, Arthur Thurlow of Westbrook, Maine and Richard Thurlow and wife, Ginny, of Apple Valley, Calif.; sister, Joan Carlton of Portland, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Department of N.C. DAV Chapter 45, 112 N. Patrick St., Goldsboro, NC 27530, or to St. Michael Archangel, 1505 Vermont Garrison St., SJAFB NC 27531, where Hap and Wilma attended masses.
