DUDLEY -- Millie Catherine "Kittie" Jordan Newman, 82, died Tuesday night.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Mount Olive. Presiding will be Ashley Thomas.
Mrs. Newman, known to many as "Miss Kittie," was a longtime member of the Mount Olive congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is survived by her husband, J. D. Newman; two daughters, Phyllis N. Wiggins of Dudley and Brenda Christine Scott of Crossnore, N.C.; a son, Jefferson D. "Dan" Newman of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Jordan of Albemarle, Ben Jordan of Grifton and Bobby Jordan of Hunt, Va.; four sisters, Delores Smith of Rosewood, Erlene Evans of Raleigh, Barbara Jordan of Dudley and Carol Mitchell of Rosewood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leslie David Newman; her parents, Leslie R. and Nettie Pittman Jordan; and two sisters, Ollie J. Kornegay and Shirley J. Cousins.
The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home Friday night from 7 until 9 p.m., and at the Newman home in Dudley at other times.
