Peggy Holt Strickland, 74, passed away on Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The family will receive friends today from 3 until 4 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by her funeral service at 4 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Carolyn Sims and the Rev. Rick Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Peggy was born in Duplin County to the late Edwin Holt and Nannie Lou Waller Holt. She was married to the late Willie Strickland and the late Kenneth Best. Peggy will be remembered as a wonderful mother by her daughters and as a wonderful Nannie by all of her grandchildren.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Kim Batts and husband, Ray, of Pikeville, Lou Brooks and husband, Jim, of Apex; a sister, Nancy Carol Britt of Albertson; a brother, Sherwood Holt of Danville, Va.; grandchildren, Ryan Batts, Raychel Batts, Kelly Brooks and Will Brooks; and several nieces and nephews, as well as a special niece, Kay Houston. She is also survived by a special friend, Myrna Tyndall; and special friends and neighbors, Gail and Howard Barnes.
The family would like to express a special thanks to all caregivers, especially to the caregivers, Jennifer, Julie and Tracy, for their guidance, wisdom and support.
Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made in her name to Saulston United Methodist Church, or to the charity of one's choice.
